Thank you, ladies! I celebrated all weekend with friends and then have a big official birthday dinner tonight at my favorite restaurant. It's Martini Monday there, so huzzah!!!
My mother kindly pointed out when I celebrated with my family yesterday that, since I'm now 34, I only have one year left to get married and have children. Very helpful.

Your Mama wants her grandbabies!!! My mother remarried and had two more babies when she was in her 40's. They both have above average IQs. She saw them into their adulthood just fine. People are living longer and healthier lives now.

Thanks, everyone!
I am just going to remind my mother after next year that she's no longer allowed to badger me about getting married or having children, since I will have passed by her supposed deadline. I doubt that will work, but I am still going to roll it out!

Oh, and I was telling my brother this at dinner last night, and he said, "Well, I guess you better get on that." I said, "Why don't YOU get on that and then she will leave me alone. What are you waiting for?" He said, "To be 34, obviously."

You could ask your mom for a gift card to a sperm bank and to please let you know if they come in blue or pink.

She'd probably jump right on that, Ruff!

Oh shoot! There's no shock value in anything anymore! I thought, as your mother, she would want everything done properly with a wedding, and a groom, and the rings.

That would definitely be her preference, but I think at this point, she'll take whatever she can get!
It doesn't help that my brother is equally disinterested in partnering up.
If she thought about that for a moment, she could probably find the correlation, but I'm not touching that one with a ten foot pole!

You're only 34 and you let me hang out with you?!!! My sister had her third at 43. Many of my teacher colleagues get married in their late 30's. There's just too much life to be lived! Have you told your mom you're attracted to gay guys? That could put a damper on the kid thing!
Happy birthday, Amanda!!! Does this mean in one year your mom stops bugging you about it? ;-)

Haha, Karen, that is my fervent hope, but I am not going to put any money on it.
At this point I am thinking it might work better to just tell her that I *am* gay rather than that I always fall for gay men. But, owing to that always falling for gay MEN thing, I don't think she'd buy it at this late date.
And for the record, I love hanging out with you, and think we probably act approximately the same age. Plus, aren't we "approximately" the same age?

I think we are psychically the same age if not chronologically the same age. And you don't ONLY like gay men -- I happen to know you've got a thing for a guy named Seth. :-)
