It should be illegal for dishwashers to break down and quit during baking season! ! ! ! The new one will arrive at some point during next week.

OH no. Time to draft all the free hands and give them a dish towel.
Loving the turkey smells drifting over the border. Happy Happy Thanksgiving to you and all your family.

Thanksgiving was at Wendy's. It's my dishwasher that quit. I make and bake various foods to bring to her house. How do you hand wash a multi-blade pastry cutter or get all the nooks and crannies clean in the turkey cookie cutter not to mention all the zillions of kitchen equipment pieces that are used during a baking event? The new dishwasher will be here not soon enough and, most thankfully, before Christmas.
Wendy made some fabulous brownies this time. The recipe starts with a basic brownie. They were taken out of the oven before finishing to add diced Reese's Pieces. Then at the end, they are topped with Rice Krispies in melted chocolate chips. I think I will be asking for this recipe.

I haven't had a dishwasher in several years. The one I had wasn't repairable and I just never replaced it. The only time I miss it is when I have a crowd for dinner, but I'm so used to handwashing the dishes, I don't even think about it. I use my dishwasher to store my drain rack. The brownies sound yum, yum, yummy but a drizzle of mint chocolate frosting wouldn't hurt.

Hand washing a few things is quick and easy. Hand washing the pile up from a holiday baking event is not my first choice in how to spend part of a day. The old dishwasher is my dish rack.
Nothing could replace my Christmas brownies that are frosted with your mint chocolate frosting!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plus they freeze beautifully which means the left over brownies are individually wrapped in little sandwich baggies and stashed in the freezer for later pleasure.
Just pulled out the file for my deceased dishwasher. It is a KitchenAid that was purchased in 1985 for $468.95. Not bad!

$15 a year is good value for the dishwasher! I'd say you more than got your money's worth from it.

Ugh! What bad timing! Sorry to hear about your dishwasher. It does seem like these things always go at a very inconvenient time. Glad to hear that a new one is on the way.
Wendy's brownies sound really yummy. Let us know if you get the recipe.
We had a nice Thanksgiving at my mom's house. My sister-in-law and I did most of the cooking but it was great for us all to be together. Nice to have both kids home this week too. Jeff's doing an co-op this semester and living at home, as it's closer to make the drive from here than school. Melissa left in August for her first semester in college. One kid left and the other came back! Next semester the real empty nest hits as Jeff has another co-op down in Texas for SpaceX.
Hope everyone had a very Happy Thanksgiving!!

Our fridge died one Thanksgiving. Appliances seem to know when to go on strike!
