Seattle & Vancouver are about to get hit with the tail end of of Typhoon Songda tonight with storms continuing through the weekend. It won't be as strong as the hurricane that hit the East Coast last week, but we have high wind and major rain fall warnings. My house is high on a hill so no worry about flooding, but the coastal areas are bracing for the high tides, & there will likely be power outages.
Fact of the day, which I just learned.... A major storm in the Atlantic is a hurricane. A major storm on the Pacific is a typhoon. Who knew?
Just thought I'd let you know in case we lose power and I'm not around for a few days. I'm well prepared, lots of food, battery lanterns, cat litter and TP, plus books, battery radio and lots of knitting and sewing projects.
Cheers all!

You sound well prepared. I stuff the freezer and fridge with containers of frozen water and hope for the best. Because of the well, no electricity also means no water at my house. A supply of it needs to be saved. A few years ago, when we were without power for 6 days, I started going to a local mall. They had power. It was heated and I could go for a walk and have a fresh salad in a warmed pita for breakfast at the Greek place. It was nice. I missed that when it was over.

We made it through the first storm but tonight and Saturday are supposed to be the worst.
With no threat of power outages for a few hours, I have turkey soup simmering on the stove. It smells heavenly! Turkey leftovers are the best!
I'm on city water so at least I don't have to worry about that. Also, my hot water tank is natural gas so I can get water hot enough for hot chocolate. After six days, I think I'd be looking for a mall too. You should treat yourself to a pita!

It's great to hear from you!!!
Would love to know how you make your turkey soup. Could it be made in a crock pot?

Looked you up on TWC. It says rainy and windy but doesn't give any estimated wind speeds. Saw a map of the bay that wraps up and around Vancouver. It's HUGE and amazing!
