If you don't like the weather, just wait a few minutes. It will change!!!
Yesterday I was outside enjoying a balmy 50 degree day. It was a great opportunity to get out there and pick up all the sticks and riff raff that come down during winter's winds. It was warm enough too so that I could pick off some of the old dead leaves from last year's clipped back irises. It was peaceful and good.
Today, there's 5 inches of snow in the driveway and on the deck. Everything is completely covered! This is the most snow we've seen here this winter. The plows are coming by yet again. My snow blower is calling me.

There are a few people in KK's neck of the snow heaps who are without power.

No kidding! We were having a not so bad day when all of a sudden, the winds started gusting from every direction and rain is bucketing down. We're at 10c(50f) so it's mild at least. I just got out a couple of candles and filled the thermal jug with tea just in case. KK's photos of the snow were very pretty but I'm glad to keep the snow on the local mountains and away from me! Stay warm, y'all, eh?

You make a power outage sound simple. Here, if the power goes there's nothing...no heat, no water, no anything. It's so quiet. I need to save buckets of water. I've learned to stuff the empty freezer spaces with containers of water that freeze and will help maintain the cold temperatures. ......... No candles here. A couple of camper lamps are great. They are much safer, can be carried throughout the house and give off more light. ........... You and your grandkids could have fun with this. You could sit around your camper lamp fire and tell stories. They could carry the lamps through the dark house themselves. Imagine a game of hide-and-go-seek in a dark house.
This was a pretty snow. It was wet and heavier and stuck to everything like mad. It actually stuck for quite a while. The mound that built up on my tray bird feeder was tall and very heavy. It was very hard to brush off. Actually, since this feeder is directly outside of my kitchen window, I turned it upside down to whack off the snow and then used the hand sprayer to wash it off.
We had a gusher of a rain storm on Wednesday. More snow is predicted early next week. At this point winter won't last very long. There's been very little issue with ice. The spring thaw hits by the end of March. ........... When I was out in the yard earlier this week, I peeked under the leaf cover on the crocus bed. Yes! They have their little yellow noses peeking up from the soil. *grin* We are waiting for spring.

It was a beautiful snow day, but it turned deadly when a six year old in Canton, MA was killed by a falling tree limb while playing in her backyard. I went for a walk yesterday and several neighbors lost huge chunks of trees. Kayla would have been in heaven carrying all those limbs home! We stayed in last night and read in front of a roaring fire -- very cozy! There's a storm forecast for the middle of the week. As long as I can get out of here next Sunday! We're to Key West for Feb. vacation week! Yay!!!
