Thank you all for the prayers and kind words. It's tough, I will miss her so. She was my "second mom" plus it's so hard on my mom. She's had a rough time already with her vision loss and her osteoporosis and then this. Aunt Lainie and my mom were very close - they probably talked to each other 3 or 4 times a week. Still, we try to remember the good times and the fact that she's no longer suffering.
KK, that's so exciting to be moving along on your property! What a dream come true! I love the story about the golden. So typical of that breed to come over with a ball to see what's up! My brother had a golden and he had blue ball that I think he would have chased for hours if we had held up that long. I think your encounter is a good omen about your new house. So glad to hear that there will be a Soapyard wing. I think we will need to plan another trip - we could have a roadkill housewarming! (Although that might make the neighbors a bit nervous! )

Denise....It sounds as if you and your mother will be leaning on each other and holding each other up through all of this. If you inherit any of her things, they become unspeakably sacred treasures. If you are reminding yourselves that you will always have her in your heart and in your mind, there is some truth to that. The experiences that we have do create actual physical changes within our neurons. For all of what you have shared with her throughout your lives, who she was for you will truly be with each of you always. Obviously your aunt was a great love and incredible blessing in both of your lives. .....
Peace & Love, ruff

Ruff, we're still working out timelines. Hoping to retire in the next few years. We'll probably sell this house and have an apartment up here and go down to the Cape on weekends and holidays.
Denise, my mother and her sister have that same kind of close relationship. Now that they both have ipads they face time each other very often. I really empathize with your loss.

Thank you for all the hugs, prayers and wonderful words of wisdom. Ruff, it really is a great comfort to think of her truly being part of us always.
Karen, thanks so much. It sounds like you, your mother and your aunt have the same close relationship. I love that your mother and her sister face time each other!! My aunt would have loved that! She was a pro at using her ipad. My mother on the other hand, is a different story... Let's just say we're still trying to get her computer off Windows XP...
I love the idea of selling the house, getting an apartment and going to the Cape on weekends! Sounds like fun and so much to look forward to!

I have to say, I'm really proud of my mom. We gave her an iPad for her 80th birthday last year and she really took to it. She also face times my sis in New Zealand, along with my sister's three children. It's been much easier and less glitchy than skype, for whatever reason.
Thank you for your comments about our plans. I'm pretty excited to have this in the works!

I was sure I had checked in here more recently but somehow have a lot of new unread posts. Anyway, Happy New Year, friends! Sounds like everyone had nice celebrations -- and nice beverages! I was very thirsty when I rang in the New Year, but it's because I was at a concert and not about to move and lose my spot!
Denise, so sorry to hear that the New Year started with bad news for you. I hate that. Somehow losing family and friends around the holidays makes it hit a bit harder.
I enjoyed the golden love in this post, though! Kayla was a special soul and will always be missed, but whenever I see a golden out and about, I'm always cheered.
