Happy New Year!
It will be a quiet evening here. The drink of choice is a fabulous smoothie made from the left over Christmas fruit salad. Other than the fresh tangerine sections which were included with it, there will be no further discussion of any other additives that may, or may not have been included. ..... It is quite delicious.

Just sat down with some champagne over frozen berries -- beautiful and delicious! I'm REALLY missing Kayla this New Year's Eve. Here's the photo of her and the kitties last NYE.

Happy New Year, Soapyarders! I have Daphne (age 7) so we just did the 'early' New Years, watching the ball drop in New York, went outside and banged on pots and yelled Happy New Year!!. 9:30pm, she's tucked in with Mrs. Hudson, the cat, and sound asleep. Thank goodness for the eastern TV feed, and she's none the wiser as it's still late for her. I'm going to enjoy a nice glass of white wine in the quiet. Wishing you all a peaceful, healthy, happy 2015. May we all be well blessed!!

A little late but Happy New Year my friends! It sounds like all of you had a nice evening. Ruff's smoothie sounds delicious as does KK's frozen berries with champagne. I wouldn't turn down Meggie's wine either! What a great idea to celebrate the new year early with Daphne and then enjoy some quiet time. She probably thought it was great that she got to stay up to see the ball drop - thank goodness for time zones. What a sweet, sweet picture of your fur-babies, Karen. Like Ruff said, that really pulls at the heart strings - Kayla was such a love.
We had a nice New Years. Had some friends and family over for our annual party. It's kind of a lot of work - especially on the heels of Christmas, but a lot of fun too, so it's worth it. Everyone keeps coming back, so I guess they're having a good time too.
Sadly, after that the New Year hasn't gone very well. My dear, sweet aunt down in Alabama passed away last Sunday. She's battled health problems for a while so it wasn't a total shock but no one was really expecting it either. They are having a memorial service for her in a couple of weeks so we will be traveling down for that. Pray for good weather as you never know what you're going to run into traveling in January. My mother (her sister) will be traveling with us. Mom broke a vertebrae about a month ago but hopefully she'll be in better shape by then for the 8 hour drive.
It's going to get better, right???
Hope you all have a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year!

KK..........I ran into a gentleman with his golden retriever this past week. She reminded me so much of Kayla. She was beautiful and the same color. She had more hair and a fuller thicker coat perhaps because it is winter. She was beautifully brushed and very, very soft. One of her paws was very pink. She had gotten into some things up on the dressing table. She was wearing a stretchy headband of little pink flowers with a larger pink flower on top. She is 5 years old and enjoyed the attention I gave to her. Her sweetness was very gentle. I couldn't stop thinking of Kayla the whole time.

[font.face="comic sans ms"]Awww!!! That Golden sounds so sweet.
Denise, I'm so sorry for your loss. Makes me realize how fortunate I am to still have all my aunts and uncles, save one. I know that when my Aunt Joan goes, I will be sooo sad. Let's hope the current weather pattern of no snow holds and you get to the memorial service safely.

Duh,!! I finally clued into KK's post. Yes, Happy 2016! Having little ones here from Christmas Day until January 5 does have an effect on ones brain!
Denise, I'm also sorry for your loss. I hope you have a safe trip south and that your mother won't have too much discomfort on the long drive. Your New Years party sounded like a lot of fun.
Karen, there is a big stick packing golden in my neighbourhood and I think of you and Kayla every time I see them. Are you thinking of getting another dog one day soon?
Ruff, any new concoctions coming out of your blender?

Yes, Meggie, we plan to get a "retirement puppy." Right now we both work long hours, so it would be difficult to bring any new dog into our house. Plus, I want to be the one to train and raise a new dog, not hand it off to a doggie day care (I was a stay at home mom to human offspring as well, LOL!).
We met with our builder in Orleans last weekend and took David with us to see the property. We were driving through a neighborhood and a family was walking with a beautiful Golden off leash. They were throwing a tennis ball and he/she was chasing it. We stopped the car as they approached and my husband put down the window. The Golden, being a total Golden, of course thought we were stopping to say hi, so he/she came bounding over, jumped up on the car, and stuck its head, tennis ball and all, into the driver's side of the car. It was SUCH a Kayla move that we all laughed. We hadn't had a tennis ball shoved in our face for quite some time, so while the owners apologized, we assured them it was a welcomed treat for us!

That's what I love about goldens! They are the only breed I've ever met that is always more interested in people than other dogs. Ive always been a spaniel lover but if the goldens came in a smaller size, I'd love one. How exciting to be starting from scratch on your property, having it done the way you would like. I hope you'll keep us up to date with photos of the project.

LOL, Meggie, you are right about Goldens. A friend posted something on FB about the Rainbow Bridge and it showed all these animals on the "other side." I thought, nope, Kayla's over on the people side! :-)
We will have it done the way we want, within our budget. May have to lop off bits here and there, but it's all about the location. :-) Don't worry, there will be a Soapyard wing.

Will the Soapyard wing take Canadian money at par? Or could I use BC Lions shirts as currency?

Meggie, just come visit. No currency needed. But yes, a BC Lions shirt would be great! ;-)
