I bought an 8 lb roasting chicken at Stop & Shop with great plans for a delicious roasted chicken supper with my favorite Pepperidge Farm stuffing. I was so looking forward to this and had great plans for some follow-up home made chicken noodle soup in the very near future. Well..........The white meat tasted like dark meat to the point where I kept looking at the chicken to be sure I cut it correctly. Also the ?white? meat was full of little grisly things that were very unpleasant. There's no way any of this bird is going into my soup!

Took the chicken back to the store and asked for the manager. He was outstanding!!!! He assured me of the refund and then said I should go pick out an organically raised Nature's Promise chicken on the house! He handed me a bag for it so that I could leave the store without question.

Oh man... what a hassle! Glad the store manager rectified the situation, though he couldn't give you your time and effort back!

Who knows what tarnation is being put into our food these days. It is becoming more difficult to find genuine Macintosh apples. They are becoming bigger and redder or just plain huge. With that, their texture and flavor is becoming compromised. That's my apple pie! And who knows what the heck all those antibiotics, additives or GMOs can do to us!

Glad you got your chicken replaced, and hope it is more successful. A lot of people go south to purchase turkeys because they are usually cheaper, or at least were until the dip in the Canadian dollar, but I never do. Canadian regulations do not allow growth hormones or antibiotics in poultry while it seems to be a free for all in the U.S. Unless you buy organic. I'll be picking up my thanksgiving turkey later today. Yum! Apples have certainly changed. Karen has a Mac apple tree in her yard & they are so much tastier than the ones in the chain stores. I'm fortunate to have farmers' markets locally that sell 'orchard run' fruit that are the smaller, unwaxed ones. Real fruit isn't perfect! Do apples grow in your area?
