A church friend invited me to her garden club potluck supper which happened this evening. I brought a small batch of freshly dug irises, all properly labeled and with photos on the containers. These were 'Free to a warm sunny garden.' They LOVED this!!!!!!!!!! I was swarmed by eager gardeners. All of the irises vanished! Plus my supply of those plastic grocery bags has been completely depleted! They make great 'shopping' bags during iris hand-outs. Now I don't have any at all to spare which is very weird. The people are lovely, very nice and openly friendly. I was totally comfortable and at home the whole time. The food was phenomenal! The tables were crammed with delectables. It was amazing. Kathy, my church friend, bragged repeatedly about my irises to everyone there. This was a compliment of the most impressive and incredible kind. I view my collection as small. Over the course of the season, about 95-100 different irises will bloom. My iris friend and mentor lived 3 miles from my place. She had 3 acres and told me she had about 400 irises. I've joined this group. Ready or not, there will be a garden tour of all tours in my yard next iris season.

How fantastic, Ruff! Isn't it great when you meet a bunch of people who just totally "get" you? These folks are lucky to have you!

I'm so happy for you! I love my garden club and always thought you'd enjoy one. It definitely has to be the right fit, though. Your club sounds like mine! Lovely laid back people who love to have their hands in the dirt, very helpful and appreciative of other gardeners efforts. Great providers of yummy goodies, too! Glad you found each other!
