The furry rodents are attacking my deck top garden. Mind you, my deck, is the roof of my garage. This is supposed to be a safe haven for my garden plants. I HAD a little watermelon. It was 5 or 6 inches long. They snatched it but couldn't manage it very well. It was dropped and smashed onto the driveway below. This morning the long spreading tendrils from my cantaloupe were all collected up close to the pot. They didn't find the baseball sized melon that is growing with the vine in the pot. There is a tiny baby melon still on one of those tendrils. In the beginning, when the plants were new, squirrels came and dug in the dirt. They usually dig into new dirt hoping to find a bulb or something they like. (Last year they ate a freshly planted lily that was planted in the front yard.) I figured once they found out there was nothing for them in the dirt, they would lose interest and move on. Not so! They are attacking my garden on my deck!!! If an insect did this, I'd spray the heck out of it! Furry insects! This is MY garden!

I feel you pain! Don't these critters know how hard you work on your garden?
Maybe you should get a dog or a couple of cats to help you. A few woofs at the right time might discourage them.
PS, I'm impressed that you are growing melons! They take a lot of sun and water!
