I feel like I had a quintessential, wholly-American 4th of July. I slept in, then spent several hours at the pool, after which I enjoyed a lemonade milkshake before heading off to the baseball game (where, yes, I ate the better part of a funnel cake) and watched the fireworks from right field after we trounced the competition in a 15-0 shutout. I'm not sure how much more "America" I could have packed into the day!

Amanda! You sure do know how to pack it all in and make the most of your holidays and special times!
"Lemonade milkshake!" Never thought of this one! Sounds wonderful.
My daughter was making drinks (in her Christmas gifted Ninja blender) with Crystal Lite lemonade, fresh strawberries and Vodka (I think).

I LOVE my Ninja blender! My son gave me one, and I hesitated because I didn't think I needed another gadget (ever!!) but it is amazing! I make smoothies with some yogurt, frozen berries, several handfuls of spinach and a lot of ice cubes. It pulverizes everything in seconds. Yum!,,

Spinach in a smoothie with fruit? How does that taste? ......... I love iceberg lettuce but know it's not exactly high on the nutritional list so I always include a bit of spinach with it which doesn't really change the flavor very much.

I wouldn't have expected lemonade + ice cream (soft-serve!) would be a good thing, but turns out, it is heavenly. It tastes like Dreamsicle, except with lemon instead of orange. Chick-fil-a has them new this year. I got one free on my calendar card, and that's how they getcha! Now I'm addicted. Fortunately, they've been around for three months and so far I've only had three.

I hesitated about the spinach at first, but my daughter uses huge amounts in her smoothies and you don't taste it at all. With lighter coloured fruit, you get a green smoothie, but with frozen blueberries, cherries or blackberries, you'd never know it was there. I find if I put the spinach in first, then the fruit, yogurt & ice, it blends the best.

Frozen cherries? I froze a few strawberries. Never thought of freezing cherries. They must be delicious in a smoothie. Orange is my favorite flavor. Cranberries can be added. Smoothies can be a meal in a glass! When the tangelos or Minneola's are in season, the juicer gets a workout. Nothing beats fresh squeezed orange juice.

I buy a a packaged frozen berry-cherry fruit mix from Europe's Best when it comes on good sales and keep them for smoothies when there isn't a lot of local produce around. One bag plus a couple of apples makes a nice fruit crisp when I need a quick company dessert.
