www.itv.com/documents/pdf/Mr%20Selfridge%20Production%20Notes%20FINAL.pdf Mr. Selfridge is a new Masterpiece Classic series.. The first episode was aired tonight. Harry Selfridge is an Americal visionary retailer who uprooted his family to open a new high end department store in London in 1909. There are at least 20 different characters in this story and there are several plots already in the works. I think you will thoroughly enjoy this one. If you missed this first episode, check your PBS listings because I think it is being rerun this week. The link is for a PDF file that has an excellent listing of the character bios complete with photos. Some may find this a bit spoilerish because it explains the relationships between the characters. I found it helpful.
Has anyone seen it? What do you think?

I have it on my DVR to watch when I get a chance -- next summer? My DVR was still set to Masterpiece Classic from Downton Abbey; it doesn't distinguish between the series showing on MC, which was a pleasant surprise! The show before Selfridge, at 8:00, something with the word Midwife in it, is also supposed to be good. My mother recommended it, so I DVR'd that as well! So many shows, so little time! I also had to finish my first kindle book I borrowed from the library before it turned back into a pumpkin. "End of the Point" by Elizabeth Graver -- highly recommend!

I pvr'd it too and will try to watch later this week. Call the Midwife has been on for a while here and I've seem a few episodes. It's very good, but a little darker that than the other English series mainly because it takes place in the tenements.
I'll check out "End of Point". I have a couple of recommendations but will start a new thread in the regular forum.

Just finished re-watching it. Really like it a lot. I was thinking that we know the actor who plays the french window dresser guy? Was he on GL? But after reading Ruff's link, I guess not.
