Did anyone watch the Dallas premiere on TNT last night? What did you think of it?

A friend recorded it for me, so I think we are going to watch it tonight while we wait for SUITS to come on at 10. I didn't watch the original, though, so I may not be very valuable to this conversation, come to think of it!

But you will know if you think it is a good show, if it interests you in several ways and if it draws you in making you want more

Shoot, was it on last night? Hopefully it will be replayed somewhere. I saw JR, Bobby & SueEllen on The Talk yesterday and it was like the original Dallas was only last year. It was must see TV in its day and everything stopped when it was on.

My cable carrier doesn't include TNT but shows it on Bravo. Thankfully, it's one of those channels that repeats things over and over & I found it on Sat. from 5-7pm.

I recorded it last night & plan to watch on Saturday, so I'll let you all know what I think after I watch. I was a huge fan of the original.......they didn't make 'em any better than good ole J.R.! ;D

I watched it last night and was mildly interested, but not convinced. I'm going to give it another couple episodes and see whether I want to keep watching.

I watched this morning.....not excellent but not bad either. Good ole JR still has it though! LOL As long as Hagman/Duffy/Gray stick around I'll probably watch.

I just watched and I'm hooked!!! Since I think I'm the last one watching, I hope it's okay to discuss it. If not...SPOILER ALERT! . . . .
.What a hoot!! It's so convoluted and involved that by the end of the first episode, you don't know who is setting up whom, and after the second, even the 'innocents' are in on the subterfuge! John Ross is a chip off the old block, although I don't think JR would ever makeout in the parking lot unless he meant someone to see him. I'm guessing there is more to Christopher than meets the eye, plus I love the idea of Elena playing both sides. Just like old times!
It took a few minutes to realize where I'd seen Annie & Christopher before until I realized they both were on Desperate Housewives.
I can't wait until Wednesday for the next episode. John Ross had better watch his back (and his front) now that JR knows he's being played!
Amanda, I can imagine why you don't 'get' the show. It ran for years with all kinds of twists and turns, and it would be like watching GL for only the last year without knowing all the past characters' and stories' histories.

Yes. Meggie, I was very thankful for your prompt to watch Downton Abby from the very beginning. So much of the plots hinge significantly on things that go awry at the start of the series. I have the Dallas DVD set and watch some of that during the winter season. The Ewing's twisted dysfunctional family is very fresh in my mind. I was wondering if one of them would have assumed a patriarchal leadership such as Jock's over the clan but it sure doesn't look like this would be the case.

Yeah, I always like to watch things from the beginning, because I love to watch character development and plots that build off of old storylines. Of course, that's not really practical for Dallas, but I thought with the reboot, it would kind of be like a new show. I guess in many ways it is, but I spent most of the viewing trying to figure out the family tree! Once I get that in hand, I may be more interested going forward. We'll see. I won't get to watch the episode this week until sometime next week, because I'm leaving for the beach tomorrow afternoon. So, it'll probably be next Thursday when I go to my friend's house to catch up on Suits, and we'll catch up on Dallas, too. That'll be two more episodes in, so I might avoid this thread when I get home until I get a chance to catch up. At that point, I'll probably know whether I'm going to stick it out. I'm more inclined to if you guys will be watching, but it will also depend on whether my friend is interested, since she's the one with the TV!

By the way, not sure where everyone else stands on this, but I've given it up. I was behind and my friend and I started watching the third episode, and about 20 minutes in, I turned to her and said, "I'm so bored with this. I give." Her response was, "Oh, good."
Maybe I just need the background of the original Dallas, but some of the acting on the new one is just TERRIBLE, and the story hasn't gotten my attention. I spent most of the time trying to figure out who was who and why they were doing this, that, and the other, and then I just realized I don't care.
On to the next thing, I guess!
