There is supposed to be a gorgeous harvest moon this evening but it has clouded over here! Plus there's a 'close up' view of Jupiter now but I have no idea where Jupiter is in the sky.

First off I am no star expert, but do love to look up at night. About a month ago, I started to notice a VERY bright star on the eastern horizon around 9 oclock (when I usually go outside to wish on the first star; I am still trying to sell my house!! LOL). It is so bright that when I first saw it, I thought it was a plane, but it didn't move.
Every night my new star seemed to be a bit higher in the sky. I didn't realize until they started talking about Jupiter on the news a couple of days ago, and that it could be seen in the eastern sky, that it was my bright star. News also said that not to worry, we'll still be able to see it for a couple of months, it is just at its closest now and will be moving away.

Hey Ruff, I was just outside, and my BIG BRIGHT STAR is directly to the right of the moon. BEAUTIFUL

Wowww! I went outside just now and can see that too! That's Jupiter? It must be because our sky is hazed over and there are only two stars which are hardly visible. But the moon is all lit up and that "star" to the right is positively brilliant!
When Venus rises in the early evening, it too is brilliant and a few other stars are just becoming visible with it as the light is continuing to fade.
