With Guiding Light and As the World Turns both gone, I am out of the soap business.

That's what I told myself all along but I do intend to check both Kim and Maura in their first performances. It could be fun. There are no strings now. A lot will depend on the writing. We'll see. I've seen Beth Ehlers in her soap role. She was a very top favorite of mine in GL but nothing grabbed me where she is now.

Where did Beth Ehlers wind up after AMC moved to CA without her? She is a favorite of mine as well. I'd like to know that she's still working.

my mother has watched a couple episodes of OLTL and had enjoyed seeing "Reva", "Ross" and "Natalia". She's started watching it regularly, so I may give it a try as well. I probably won't start til Christmas break, however, I just can't keep up with daily "stories" when I'm working.

I had planned to check it out as well but had been too busy to bother taping. Guess it's about time to get stuff set up so I can decide if I'm going to follow along or not.
Since I was down to watching 2 wks worth of taped episodes every other weekend, it hasn't felt too strange without ATWT. That's sad... I do miss some of the characters but I was missing them long before the show went off due to the way the storylines were being written. The only reason I kept up at all was with the hope they'd bring the show back to its previous standards... sigh... hopefully they won't take all the soaps off of all the channels. I don't think I could trust CBS not to do that with the other soaps they still have.

I think the reason we lost GL + ATWT is because they were both owned by P&G. P&G bailed because they wanted out of the soap business. Hopefully the other soaps are not connected with P&G.
I've been tuning into Y+R when I'm around the house and may catch something of B+B which happens to come on afterwards. I don't tape. Besides Maura West, Marcy Rylan (ex Lizzie) is also on Y+R. I like her there. The other thing is that there are a number of women who look so similar, it is difficult to figure out who is whom or doing what. This is an amazing statement on a perceived standard of beauty. How an actress establishes her own uniqueness has to be an issue since being noticed and remembered is key.

What's the consensus on Kim Zimmer on OLTL? Who is Maura West? I didn't know MR was on Y&R. I've tried on and off t watch Y&R and I just can't get into it. For me that ship sailed many years ago. GL broke my heart, I think maybe I'm with Amanda.. done with soaps.

Maura West was the lead actress (Carly Tenney) on ATWT. She's an outstanding Emmy winning actress. In watching ATWT, it got to the point where if she wasn't on that day, I was disappointed. I like having a soap to watch plus I don't like a lot of what is on night time television. For one thing, I have no stomach for violence. Everything is so graphic now. After trying both Y&R and OLTL for a while, Y&R has grabbed me enough so that I don't want to miss it. OLTL can be watched if I am at home. Maura is hardly on. She is not a lead in this show. (KZ is no where near being a lead in OLTL.) Hopefully, she will work her way into becoming one. She certainly has the capacity for this. The show's budget and contracting is probably a key factor though. Jerry VD's character in OLTL is interesting.
