This is a link to an article in The Boston Globe about Lady Mary. I liked this article a lot. Despite her callous and spiteful outbursts I have always liked and valued Lady Mary's character. Though I was thankful, when in a recent episode, brother Tom called her out on it just the way he saw it. She has a great deal of inner strength. This article also said something I've been thinking for a long time which is that Lady Mary is the younger version of what Lady Violet once was. One comment caught particular attention: "Matthew died quite suddenly from a fatal case of unsigned contract."
