Now that we are down to the last 2 shows, what do you think of the season so far?

Not watching it. They lost me halfway through last season. Can't stand the priggishness, it was driving me crazy. Then when I saw they were killing off Isis, that was the final straw. Hope you're still enjoying it, though. It's just not for me anymore.

Understood. I view the struggles with the staid mores and class as part of the story line in which people struggle with adaptation to the changing times. My dear departed aunt, who would be 105 this year, had a few very deeply entrenched perceptions about class and distinction that were completely out of sync with today's society. Her love for me was deep, strong and abiding.

I love it!! Thank goodness for PBS with all the other drivel on TV. It's the only program that I watch in real time. Sunday night, I watch last week's episode and then the current one. Julian Fellows has researched the time so thoroughly & It is as realistic to the changing times as possible. I doubt that Thomas would have been permitted to stay in the house but the story has to have a villain. They had a special called The Manners of Downton Abbey that was very telling, showing the attention to detail, even to how the ladies sit and carry themselves.
I had a problem with the first episodes last season being disjointed, with storylines that weren't fully devoloped or resolved too quickly, but this season has its flow back.
btw, KK, there are only a couple of episodes left and ISIS is still around. She's been on screen nearly every time Lord Grantham is on.

Ahh, that's the ONE thing I like about that guy. I hear the actor carries hot dogs around in his pockets, LOL!

I love Hugh Bonneville! I'm looking to borrow a kid to go see him in the Paddington movie

If the Manners program has been on around here, I've missed it. Rats! We don't get to see last week's show on Sunday. There's a bake off reality kind of series happening instead. Normally I wouldn't choose to watch it but I turn on PBS early so as not to miss any part of Downton .

I have loved this season of Downton. After last season was so disjointed and bizarre, I was losing hope in it, but this season really perked me up.

In the beginning, the storyline re Mary's suitors didn't do a whole lot for me. There was so much energy and chemistry all throughout her history with Matthew that these just couldn't hold up a candle in comparison. I am glad they've faded. The rest of the storylines have really picked up and I think we will have plenty to look forward to for next season. For starters, suddenly, Lord Merton's sons are a real monkey wrench for Isobel.
We are down to our last show. I am hungry for more.

Storylines of people liking Mary whatsoever have always left me more than a little perplexed.

I like Mary. Her character adds its own dynamics into the mix. I thought her suitors could have been a lot more interesting. There was so much more spark between Matthew and Mary. Even though she was often her worst enemy I could understand her reactions especially within the context of a soap.

Ruff, I was checking the listings and there is an episode this Sunday, and then the 'Christmas' one(2hrs I think) the week after. We don't have to go into withdrawal quite so soon.
